Aetna refuses to pay for surgery
May 7, 2008
Aetna Insurance complaint by Cyndi
I had surgery last year to have a spinal cord stimulator implanted. Aetna paid for the trial run, but refused to pay the actual surgery.

Their excuse is that there was no proof that the SCS gave me 50 to 70% relief from pain. Also, there was no proof that I was not a drug seeker before the surgery. It wasn't cosmetic surgery, I can tell you.

I, and my doctor, have filed appeals. I have filed a complaint to the Ohio Dept. of Ins. The total for this surgery is near $70,000. Guess I will be filing bankruptcy.
