Refused to Pay for medication
Mar 20, 2008
Aetna Insurance complaint by Rvs6924
Aetna refuses to pay for medication that they knew I was taking prior to issuing the policy. They asked what conditions I had and what medications I took. They said they covered all previous conditions but then when I went to the pharmacy to have my prescription filled it was not covered. I call Aetna and they said they covered my previous condition if I needed treatment for it but the medication that I take for it they will not cover. I have filed appeal after appeal. My doctor also wrote a letter of medical necessity but that does not matter to Aetna. I asked why did I have to fill out a form stating what I was taking before the policy was written if they were not going to cover it. They said that is what they base there premiums on. Even though they will not cover it they charge my premium based on if they did. That should be illegal. The medication is extremely expensive and that is the only reason they do not want to cover it.
